The 2nd edition of Tuensang District Football Association Cup 2018 got underway Thursday at parade ground, Tuensang.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairperson of Nagaland State Commission for Protection of Child Right, Awan Konyak said that the theme ‘surpass the game’ was profound  and speaks of human aspirations.

She said, “we should not be chained by our traditions and customs but rather we should use the positives of our rich traditional heritage to move forward and dust off our head hunting mentality and become leaders in different fields.”

While stating that people  have great potential  to bring  about  and create new bench marks to all the existing parameters in the world, Awan said, “we should all have the will  and perseverance to perform to the best of  our abilities.”  She further opined that games, in general, can be compared with how ‘we live our lives’. Not everyday will be the same, she said adding, “one should be humble in victory and gracious in defeat and encouraged upon the players to maintain strict discipline and practice fair play.”
