While the police had ruled out any foul play in the death of actor Om Puri who died of a heart attack in his residence at Oshiwara on Friday morning, it seems things may take a turn after a statement from his driver-friend Khalid Kidwai and as new details emerge.
Kidwai has mentioned that Om Puri was extremely disturbed the night before he passed away.
According to the actor’s post-mortem report, there was a one-and-a-half inch deep and four centimetres long injury on his head, reports Indian Express.
The cause of the injury, however, is not known yet.
The driver, as quoted by DNA, said that the actor wanted to meet his son Ishan on Thursday evening, a day before his death.
Kidwai took Puri to Trishul building where his ex-wife Nandita lives with Ishan. However, they were unable to meet them as both Nandita and Ishan had gone for a party, he said.
“Om Puri then had an argument over the phone with Nandita and asked them to come soon as he wanted to meet his son. He poured a drink in his glass and waited for almost 45 minutes at Nandita’s flat. But when they did not turn up, he took the glass and liquor bottle and started drinking in the car. After finishing the drink, we left,” he said. Puri died early morning on January 6, 2017, reportedly due to a cardiac arrest. However, Mumbai Police have registered a case of accidental death.
