After Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma, who’ve successfully branched out into film production in the recent past, Katrina Kaif is gearing up to venture into the territory this year.
Grapevine had been abuzz that Salman Khan was to launch one of Kat’s sisters, Isabel, in a project which would also feature Sonia, their other model sibling who is based in the UK and often visits the 33-year old actress in India. But a close friend of the 51-year old actor-producer has told Mirror that there are no plans of him producing a film with Isabel anytime soon. Instead, it’s the leading Bollywood actress who is now planning to turn producer.
“Katrina and Salman discuss films extensively and are like family to each other. She has shown interest in venturing into film production soon while simultaneously balancing her acting gigs and has been reading scripts, discussing films with her close director friends as well. If there’s anyone who’ll launch her sister in a big Bollywood production, it’ll be Katrina herself,” revealed the source, adding that the actress has always taken keen interest in understanding the nitty-gritty of the filmmaking process and will soon plan a venture under her own banner.
When Mirror got in touch with Katrina, she said, “Nothing really has crystallised yet. I will produce a film one day... soon.”
News of Isabel’s acting debut first hit headlines when she began to accompany Katrina to Bollywood parties and even made an appearance with her at an award function. Meanwhile, the Kaif sisters continue to make joint appearances at Salman’s frequent bashes too. Isabel finally appeared in the 2014 Kunal Nayyar-starrer, ‘Dr Cabbie’, which was directed by Jean-Francois Pouliot, with Salman as one of the co-producers on the project. Sallu even flew to Toronto for the film’s premiere, posing with Kunal and Isabel.
