The frontman of U.S. death metal band Lamb of God has been arrested in Prague in connection to the death of a fan during a concert in 2010 according to police.

Singer Randy Blythe, 41, was arrested Wednesday when called into questioning before a scheduled show on Thursday night, WTVR reports.

The four-time Grammy-nominated band’s lead singer is accused of causing bodily harm resulting in the death to the fan two years ago in the Czech capitol.

Police spokeswoman Jana Rosslerova says Blythe has been in police custody since his arrest and a court is set to rule on Saturday on whether to continue his detention.

Describing themselves as a “pure American metal” quintet from Richmond, Virginia’ established 15 years ago, the band’s concerts can be aggressive featuring mosh pits of concertgoers slamming into one another before the stage.

Responding to reports that Blythe started a fight that resulted in the fan’s death, the band’s publicist Maria Gerrero released a statement arguing otherwise.

‘Under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance,’ Ms Gerrero said.

‘It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head.

‘Again, until the investigation is concluded this weekend, nothing more will be released, but clarity and the facts needed to be addressed on this one reported point which is totally inaccurate.’

With police releasing few details, Rosslerova shortly stated on Friday they believe Blythe ‘injured a person who consequently died.’

Blythe’s brother Mark Blythe told CBS-6 that the singer is ‘wrongly accused, lawyers are dealing with it, and we expect him to be fully exonerated’.

Local media say the incident was during the band’s first gig in the city. The band’s concert planned at the Rock Cafe for Thursday night was cancelled.
