Amidst rumours, the Apollo Hospital in Chennai has issued a medical bulletin saying Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa suffered a cardiac arrest Sunday evening and is being treated now. The report comes hours after AIADMK claimed an AIIMS expert team had confirmed that she had completely recovered after over two months of hospitalisation.
“She is being treated and monitored by a team of experts, including cardiologists, pulmonologist and critical care specialists,” Chief Operating Officer and head of transformation of Apollo Hospital Dr Subbaiah Viswanathan said in the bulletin. Earlier party spokesperson C Ponnaiyan had claimed AIIMS doctors visited the hospital on Saturday and after examining her health, “shared the good news with us that Amma has completely recovered.”
The team, comprising Dr G Khilnani, Dr Anjan Trikha and Dr Nitish Nayak has been visiting the hospital regularly ever since the 68-year-old AIADMK supremo was admitted on September 22.
