Manipur CM seeks cooperation of civil servants

Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh Friday stressed the important of a healthy cooperation between legislators and civil servants for giving good governance to the people.
Addressing the 12th Civil Service Day, the chief minister said that “Periodic dialogue and interaction between the legislators and civil servants is a necessity for good governance.”
Singh asserted that politicians come from social grassroots and know the sentiments of the people whereas civil servants know how to execute the government policies. “So co-operation between the two is very much needed to bring good governance, he added.
For smooth functioning of government and to fulfill the commitment of his government towards giving good governance, interaction programme between the ministers and civil servants would be held every month, he said while adding that it would also help in transparency and accountability.
His government would have zero tolerance on any act which is beyond the framework of the Indian Constitution and the government will not allow letting down the expectations of the people from the new BJP led coalition government in the state, Singh said. State PWD, administrative reforms and training and IPR minister Th Biswajit Singh said that the government needs cooperation of the civil servants so that government could execute an inclusive policy for the welfare of the society.
Parliamentary secretary (transport and planning) Khasim Vashum, DGP LM Khaute, additional chief secretary (administrative reforms) Shambhu Singh, additional chief secretary (labour and employment) Dr Suhel Akhtar, additional chief secretary (home) Dr J Suresh Babu were among top officials of Manipur government who attended the function.
