Manipur social welfare minister Nemcha Kipgen Tuesday called for protection of children’s rights on the occasion of Children’s Day.
Addressing the gathering at the Children’s Day celebration organized by the state social welfare department at GM Hall Imphal, the minister drew the attention of all to come forward for children’s rights, care and education of children.
She said, “Children should be guided in a right track to become successful in the future.”
“This can be done by providing the right education, care in a peaceful environment so as to promote their growth and development,” she added. Education will empower children to be innovators, scholars, researchers and torch bearers towards the roads to development, she asserted. The social welfare minister assured all possible assistance for the welfare and development of children’s community. Keeping the vision of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in mind, Kipgen urged everyone to join hands from this moment to work for the well being of the children.
“The profound love and fervour of Nehru towards the children is the big reason for celebrating the Children’s Day,” she added. Director of state social welfare department Jacintha Lazarus and joint director, Surrender A Shishak graced the celebration function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
