The 53rd wrestling meet of Western Angami Sports Association (WASA) would be held on January 22 and 23 at Khuochiezie (Kohima Local Ground) with Minister for Social Welfare & Parliamentary Affairs Kiyanilie Peseyie as the chief guest of inaugural ceremony while Rovilato Mor, Deputy Commissioner, Kohima as guest of honour for the closing function.
A total of 60 wrestlers from the villagers under western Angami region will compete in Naga wrestling. The two-day wrestling event will also witness junior category wrestling for under-14 wrestlers and free style wrestling for both seniors (Men & women) and cadets (Boys & girls).
The organizers has informed the respective units to come prepared with 12 wrestlers and 3 reserves, two flags and an entry fee of Rs. 7,000 each. The units are also informed to come prepared with four junior wrestlers along with their birth certificates.
The measurement for free style will be done at the venue right after the completion of Naga style wrestling.
Meanwhile, WASA officials has convened meeting on January 21 at local ground Kohima comprising the referees, field judges, unit presidents, managers, coaches and other tournament officials at 4 pm.
