The All India Football Federation (AIFF) are to convene a meeting alongside their commercial and marketing partners, IMG-Reliance, wherein the I-League and Second Division clubs alongside their Indian Super League (ISL) counterparts will be briefed on the initial blueprint for Indian football.
The likes of Bhaichung Bhutia, Abhishek Yadav and Sunil Chhetri are also expected to be part of the high profile meet. The said meeting is expected to be held on the 17th of this month in Delhi wherein everyone’s opinion on the roadmap for Indian football will be asked for. The AIFF, represented by President and General Secretary Praful Patel and Kushal Das respectively, have held at least three rounds of discussions with IMG-Reliance, with Sundar Raman (CEO, Reliance Sports), Devang Bhimjyani (Interim CEO, ISL) and Chirag Tanna (General Manager, Reliance Sports), over the last couple of months with the said parties working on a model which would take into account every stakeholder’s best interests.
It must be noted that Patel had called for a meeting of the I-League clubs last year wherein he mentioned of India having one league in a few years’ time and assured them that their interests will be taken into account when a merger takes place.
