For the first time in the history of Nagaland, the state government is learnt to have decided to award ‘Chief Minister Awards’ on ‘Young Naga Achievers Awards’ on the 1st December 2012 under the department of youth resource and sports.

This was disclosed by director, youth resources and sports, Kelei Zeliang to media persons at his office chamber here on Wednesday.

The state government will be honoring Chekrovolü Swuro as she is the only young achiever from among the sportsmen of the state who has brought laurel to the state and nation.

He also revealed that the state’s youth resources and sports officials met Swuro and expressed confidence that the Naga Olympian will excel in the London Olympics.

With regard to the state government’s financial support to Swuro, the director informed that the state government was doing nothing as the central government was sponsoring her, but the former was contemplating on promoting Chekrovolü Swuro who is a SI to the rank of DSP in the state’s police department, which was made known through retired DGP Nagaland K. Kire.

The director also revealed that he along with the secretary youth resources and sports, Sachopra Vero and Hunezo Thisa, Nagaland Archery coach met the Naga archer recently at Kolkata prior to her departure to London and conveyed their wishes to the her.
