Assam Rifles Inter Sector Boxing Championship was conducted at ARTC & S, Shukhovi, from February 6 to 11. A total of 110 pugilists representing the twelve sectors of AR vied for the coveted ‘DGAR Boxing Trophy’ in ten weight categories.
Over the conduct of the preliminary rounds from February 6 to 10, the best boxers fought their way to the finals which was conducted on February 11.
In the finals, each of the boxers gave an account of their skills, courage and sportsmanship in the ring earning laurels for their respective sectors. The event was witnessed by an enthusiastic crowd of over 356 personnel including families. Col Manu Sharma, Officiating Deputy Commandant ARTC & S graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest.
Rfn N Hayamo Ngullie of HQ 21 Sector was declared the best boxer and Rfn L R Liana of HQ 6 Sector was adjudged the best loser. HQ 9 Sector emerged as the Inter Sector Boxing Champions while HQ 21 Sector bagged the runners up.
