Central Naga Tribal Council (CNTC), Dimapur District Citizens Forum (DDCF) and Sumi Council, Dimapur (SCD) have lauded the decision of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Dimapur and Dimapur district administration for introducing uniform to be worn by all auto-rickshaw drivers in Dimapur.
CNTC: In a press release, CNTC vice president HokiyeYeptho and publicity & information secretary Longshi Ezung said the initiative was a welcome step and that it would be beneficial for the security of the denizens.
CNTC also appealed the auto-rickshaw drivers’ union to conform to the direction of the RTA and Deputy Commissioner (DC) as it was for the security and welfare of the drivers as well as the people.
DDCF: Dimapur District Citizens Forum (DDCF) has appreciated the move of the RTA for the decision to enforce grey uniform for all auto-rickshaw drivers with name tags. In a press release, DDCF vice president Khehuto Zakie opined that wearing uniform by auto-drivers would give the citizens of Dimapur a sense of confidence especially during night hours and also give a feeling of security for the auto drivers as in the recent past, few auto drivers were harassed by antisocial elements.
DDCF appealed Dimapur District Auto Drivers Union to comply with the order of the RTA for the larger interest of the people and make Dimapur look like a “disciplined city.”
SCD: Sumi Council, Dimapur (SCD) also lauded DC Dimapur and RTA for taking the decision to enforce the rule to make it mandatory for the auto-drivers to wear uniforms. SCD chairman Kuhoi Zhimo said the move would ensure that unscrupulous elements were checked and unwanted incidents were curbed besides providing security to commuters.
The council appealed DDADU to extend co-operation and support to the administration and implement the order. SCD also opined that names should be displayed along with numbers assigned to each driver on the shirt front.
