Jubilee, a time to forgive & reconcile: Y. Patton

Nagaland home minister Y. Patton said jubilee was a time to forgive and reconcile with one another and a time to acknowledge pioneers for their contributions.
He was speaking as chief guest during 50 years jubilee celebration of St. Paul’s Catholic Church Wokha cum priestly ordination of Deacon John Nchumbemo Kikon, Sunday at jubilee hall, DBHSS Wokha football ground.
Patton said that the fruits that are being harvested today were because of the sacrifices and hard work of the pioneers. He then urged all to work together in unit so that the good works of the pioneers were carried on. 
Reminiscing over his student life in various Catholic institutions, Patton acknowledged the contributions of the Catholic community in educational sector of the State.
He also conveyed jubilee greetings on his behalf and on the behalf of the state government. Patton also donated Rs. 2 lakh to St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Wokha.
Later in a holy mass, main celebrant of the programme, Bishop of Kohima, Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil ordained Deacon John Nchumbemo Kikon.
Fr. John is the first Priest from Nagaland for the congregation of Salesian of Don Bosco, Dimapur province. 
His priestly motto is: “I walk guided by your faithfulness” (Ps 26:3)
In his homily Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil said termed the day as an auspicious day for all to celebrate golden jubilee of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Wokha-the second Parish in the diocese of Kohima.
While celebrating the jubilee, the Bishop said one should remember that jubilee was also an invitation to live the present with passion. He said a grateful remembrance of the past must leads one to live the present with greater commitment and fidelity and that jubilee was a time to embrace the future with hope.
Earlier, the Bishop dedicated the jubilee memorial after it was unveiled by home minister Y. Patton.
Dimapur Provincial Rev. Fr. Nestor shared the message, St. Paul’s Catholic Church Wokha parish priest Rev. Fr. Anto Tharakam delivered welcome address, Holy Trinity Church Dimapur presented a special number, Sunglup village catechist R. Samuel Yanthan, Holy Trinity Church Dimapur catechist M. John Humtsoe and Bhandari town catechist Urbanus Ezung read the scripture while C. Peter Yanthan acknowledged and proposed vote of thanks at the programmes led by Aremo Patton and Rev. Fr. Peter Pithungo respectively. 
A jubilee and ordination feast followed the programme.
The 50 years jubilee celebration of St. Paul’s Catholic Church Wokha which commenced from December 11 culminated on Sunday.
