Alleging that NPF-led DAN government was not for the people, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Saturday said the DAN government has “miserably failed” to deliver in its 12 years of rule.  Addressing a press conference at Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) office here, NPCC president K. Therie said the present government had destroyed the state’s financial health leading the economy of the common man to ‘dire straits’ and exhausting money circulation within the state.
In its booklet called ‘Road Map’, NPCC claimed that NPF party under the guise of a regional identity has now turned into agents of a communal force and planting BJP’s ideologies and principles in the minds of the young generation. It alleged that NPF’s ‘blind love and faith’ on BJP has become a major threat to the identity, religion and social practices of the Nagas.
Taking a dig at the central government, NPCC said there was communal divide in the country ever since the re-emergence of BJP under the leadership of Narendra Modi, which openly promoted and propagated the antithesis of what national leaders had consistently championed in the past. NPCC said the intolerance towards Christians and minorities in the nation was proved beyond doubt in the declaring of Christmas Day as ‘Good Governance Day’, Ghar Wapsi (forced re-conversion to Hindu), Judges’ Conference Day on Good Friday, International Day on Fathers’ Day, the series of Vandalism on Churches and Christian schools across the country and the shameful and heinous crimes against women.
NPPC also said the schemes and funds under Food and Civil Supplies, MGNREGA, Social Welfare, SSA, RMSA, NHMS did not reach the beneficiaries while Agri and allied department schemes and funds did not reach the farmers, alleging that corruption was shared among the MLAs and officers alike.
Stating that NPCC executives had toured 11 districts and conducted 18 meetings, Therie said during the tour they heard the wishes and will of the people, which was to do away with corruption that has crept into all the strata of the society affecting even the village-based organizations.
Further, Therie said that his party would ensure 100% of the population get the cashless health cards through insurance policies taking into account the death of thousands of people each year due to terminal illnesses including CHDs, Diabetes and Kidney complications while leaving their families with huge debt problem due to medical expenses. On whether the party had purged itself since the defection of its top party functionaries, Therie said the party was cleansed and assured that no such situation arose in the near future. He said the integrity and principle of the party executives would put the party on a morally degenerated state.
