Ministerial team visits Kiphire

A ministerial team led by Home Minister, Y. Patton along with minister for Power, C. Kipili Sangtam, parliamentary secretaries-- B.S. Nanglang and L. Khumo visited Kiphire on February 11 to take stock of the prevailing situation in the violence hit areas and held a meeting with tribal leaders, NGOs, student leaders, AST, GBs and ward chairmen at DC’s conference hall, Kiphire. Patton assured the leaders that the Inquiry Commission has been set up to probe into the incident. He also informed that efforts were on to provide two posts (govt service) to the related families and also payment of Rs. one lakh as ex- gratia to the next of kin. Short speeches were also delivered by Power minister, C. Kipili Sangtam and parliamentary secretaries BS. Nanglang and L. Khumo; Tsilise, vice president USLP; Khatomong, executive chairman USSC; Mapula, president AST and Sepithong, Head GB. DC Kiphire, A. Chumremo Odyuo also give a brief report on the incident and also chaired the meeting.
