Various organizations have comdemned the recent spate of violence and molestation case that took place in Zunheboto recently.
Kohima Sumi students’ union (KSSU) has condemned the incident at Zunheboto on June 8 where a minor Sumi girl was molested by Shaidubbin of Karimganj Assam district. The union extending its support to the 3 point resolution adopted by Sumi Kukami Hoho, Sumi Totimi Hoho and Zunheboto range students’ union, also appealed for its full execution. KSSU also condemned the incidents where a Zunheboto bound bus was attacked twice by a group of persons near Wokha town, and added such incidents would create division, hatred and insecurity even to travel within Naga territory.
Kiphire District Sumi Union Dimapur (KDSUD) has condemned the killing of Huvito Sumi son of Vishito Sumi of Longmatra town by unidentified miscreants. In a press release KDSUD president Ghokiho Yeptho stated such act of violence has no place in “civilized” society and that all right thinking citizens should condemn the act. Further, the union appealed to law enforcing agencies to book the culprits at the earliest.
Akuluto Range Students’ Union (ARSU) has condemned the incident Shiaduddin of Karimganj, Assam for molesting a minor Sumi girl. ARSU further extended appreciation to ZRSU for initiating the protest rally on 9 June at Zunheboto and extended solidarity to 3 point resolutions endorsed by Zunheboto frontal bodies.
PLTWFI: Petroleum and Land Transport Workers’ Federation of India (PLTWFI) has condemned the “senseless murder” of its member driver Sajan and injuring Kamal Uddin on June 14 near Lahorijan and also the “brutal” murder of Huvito, son of Vishito, a handyman from Kiphire at Gorapatti, Dimapur, on June 14.
Stating the incident was a direct insult not only to the victim but the organization as a whole, the Dimapur unit federation in a press release issued by its president, Akheto Achumi, said it was the “most grievous and a serious violation of the law of the land”.
While urging the law enforcing agencies and district administration to book the culprit(s) at the earliest and award “capital punishment” to those involved as per the law, the unit conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family members and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Meanwhile, the unit pointed out its regret for not being able to extend its “full timely support” to the victims and injured members due to the ban imposed on collections by organizations by the state government, for which it appealed to the government to revoke the decision and to allow “legal and genuine organizations” to function smoothly.
