Staff of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Phek and NRC on Mithun, Porba on June 30 organized a plantation programme sponsored by Rainforestmaker and IAgriss in and around the office and farm premises. The programme was by chaired former state home minister, Thenucho Tunyi. He highlighted the importance of mithun in social, economic and cultural life of Chakhesang community. He emphasized on protecting the natural habitat of mithun by planting more trees.  

Chief guest Zakhamo Sakhamo, vice president Phek district GB association reiterated the problem faced by mithuns and their owners due to dwindling forest cover as a result of deforestation.

Dr. R.K Singh Programme Coordinator KVK Phek mentioned the consequences of deforestation and global warming. 250 numbers of Khaboo (Ficus hookeri) and 50 orange saplings were planted on the occasion.
