Plantation drive at ARTC&S

ARTC&S organized a tree plantation drive at the sprawling greens of Shokhuvi as Assam Rifles observed “Go Green Fortnight” from July 1 July to 15.
The drive was spearheaded by Brigadier S.S Prasad, YSM, SM, commandant, Assam Rifles Training Centre & School who inaugurated the drive by planting a sapling of an ornamental flower ‘Kasod’.
Children of Shokhuvi garrison also took active part in the grand event wherein nearly 2000 saplings of different varieties were planted across the whole garrison.
In an effort to combat climate change which is conspicuously felt everywhere and with the onset of monsoons, it was the right time to go green and plant more trees.
The initiative also aim to raise awareness of the importance of healthy and green environment among all with a pledge being undertaken to promote planting of more trees in the region and adapt to an eco-friendly green life.
The tree plantation drive was yet another step in the ongoing efforts to preserve and protect the precious flora for future generations.
The saplings which were planted were Titachap, Kasod, Agor, Bonsum deciduous, Bondara deciduous, Evergreen Ratnagunj, Neem, Gulmohar and Jammun.
