State farmers tour Assam, Meghalaya

An exposure tour of Mesulumi farmers under Phek district to Assam and Meghalaya was organized by KVK Phek, NRC on Mithun (ICAR) under Soil Science division from August I to 4 which was led by T. Esther Longkumer, Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Science), and Virginia Thabah, Training Assistant (Home Science).
The group visited college of veterinary science, AAU Khanapara, Assam, ICAR NEH region, Barapani and Central Potato Research Station (CPRS)-Upper Shillong, where farmers visited farms and field and were benefitted under different division such as management practices of pig, buffalo, cattle, Integrated farming system(IFS), vermicompost, organic farming, horticultural crops, double cropping, compost making etc.
In CPRS, different varieties of potato were shown to farmers, and importance and management of potato cultivation, true potato seed (TPS) were briefed.
The group while expressing gratitude to Dr. C. Rajkhowa, director, NRC on Mithun (ICAR), Jharnapani, and Dr. R.K. Singh, programme co-ordinator, KVK Phek, for their initiatives in arranging the exposure tour said the visits had enhanced the knowledge of farmers in different aspects of agricultural and allied sectors.
