Home minister Y. Patton said youth are the force for fostering unity and development in the society and also the agents of change in modern society. He was addressing the 2nd Japukong Range Youth general conference cum 5th volley ball tournament at Japu village as the chief guest.
Patton stated that youth are the pillars and the leaders of the society who would shape the future society in political, social and cultural roles, therefore he urged the Japu and Naga youths to cultivate positive mindset and grow into a healthy future for Nagaland. He said, Aos were considered as one of the most advanced tribes among the Nagas and therefore urged them to play a positive role in transforming the society, in every aspect of social and political lives. Patton further said Nagas were sports loving people and encouraged them to be professional and maintain physical fitness and aim at national and international level and bring laurels to the state. Parliamentary secretary, Agriculture & NSAMB chairman, Dr. Benjongliba Aier, in his address called on the youths to keep the commitment in all the areas to strive for excellence and also reminded them to fear and trust in God in order to achieve in life. The conference held under the theme, “commitment to excellence”, was deliberated by Asangla Longchar. The three-day 5th volley ball tournament was formally inaugurated by Soil & Water Conservation, commissioner and secretary-T Nungsang Ao. A total of 16 teams from 12 villages are participating in the tournament.
