Nagaland governor, PB Acharya, congratulated the civil servants on the occasion of National Civil Servants Day and exhorted them to become “agents of change” in their respective organizations and departments.
In his message, Acharya said the Government of India had taken a decision to observe April 21 every year as “Civil Services Day” as an occasion for civil servants to rededicate themselves to the cause of citizens and renew their commitment to public service and excellence in work.
He said efficiency and effectiveness in the developmental administration was the major need of the hour. In this regard, the governor reminded the civil servants that they were not just doing a job but a service to the common man individually and collectively. “People look upon the civil servants for resolution of their issues,” he added.
Further, describing civil servants as “pillars of development and the backbone of the government”, the governor encouraged them to be proactive and work for the cause without any discrimination.
Wishing civil servants the best in service of the people and nation, Acharya pointed out that they have to be loyal to the constitution of India. “This also means that our Civil Service has to take the ownership of the public action they are doing and the public assets they are creating,” he said.
