Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) and GB Union Dimapur (Sadar) held its first coordination meeting on clean election on Friday at Lotha Hoho Ki, Dimapur.
At the meeting, deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome (IAS) asserted that “Clean Election” campaign reflects that it was time to cleanse the election system. He pointed the success of the campaign in some areas.
According to Yhome, since people do not value their votes, they do not have any right to blame the politicians after having indulged in unfair means during election.
DC also said it was “improper” on the part of GBs, appointed by government, to indulge negatively during elections.
Also speaking on the occasion, DMC administrator, Moa Sangtam, maintained that government was a reflection of the people and therefore “we” should stop blaming the policy makers and start to change oneself first.
During the meeting, the house decided to form “Core group” in each colony with around 20-40 members comprising colony council members, GBs, women leaders, youth leaders, Church leaders and intellectuals.
The Joint Forum of DUCCF and GB Union Dimapur also resolved to come up with a “Pledged Sticker” to be pasted at the main entrance door of every household who have already taken the pledge.
