National Highway (NH) 29 – a lifeline between Kohima and Dimapur –which remained cut off since July 9 due to massive landslide at Kiruphem-Peducha area, could reopen soon. According to sources from Kiruphema village, the highway was likely to re-open within a day or two if the weather remained dry. Following the landslide, the movement of vehicles has been adversely affected causing untold misery to the travellers. Kohima-bound light vehicles have been directed to ply the alternate route via Peducha to Tsiesema and Dimapur-bound vehicles via Sechü Zubza, Kiruphema and Peducha. The four lane construction company in tandem with Kiruphema Youth Organisation (KYO) are continuing their effort to restore the highway at earliest.
