Trg on ‘eco-friendly pest management of stored grains pests’ begins at SASRD

A model training course on “eco-friendly pest management of stored grains pests” sponsored by directorate of extension, ministry of agriculture & farmers welfare and organized by department of Entomology, SASRD: NU commences on Wednesday at SASRD: NU library conference hall.
The eight-day model training was inaugurated by SASRD: NU, Medziphema Campus, pro vice chancellor, Professor T. Lanusosang as chief guest, informed a release by SASRD: NU.
In his address, Professor Lanusosang stressed on the importance of protection of environment through eco-friendly measures so as to mitigate the problems caused by global warming and climate change. 
He deliberated on the need for research and development in plant protection so as to help the farmers face the challenges in their agricultural activities and thereby to ensure food security for all and said that such training courses are the need of the hour.  
Professor Lanusosang also exhorted the participants to not only learn but also to share their field experiences so that knowledge could be enhanced for all concerned. 
Course director & HoD, Entomology, SASRD: NU, Dr. I. T. Asangla Jamir delivered the welcome address, Professor L. Daiho invoked God’s blessings, the programme was chaired by Professor M. Aleminla Ao and vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Imtinaro L, course coordinator and assistant Professor Entomology. Professor Akali Sema, dean in-charge, also attended the inaugural function.
