Anti-malaria month observed in Zbto

District Health Society (DHS), Zunheboto National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) observed anti malaria month in June with various IEC activities to educate the people on the causes of malaria and its preventive measures.

A press release from CMO office Zunheboto district media officer, Shekho Sophie stated that, “Zero Malaria starts with me” was the theme of the month-long observation, during which special focus was given on malaria endemic blocks. 

District officials of NVBDCP, Zunheboto headed by Hekuto Sumi, senior malaria inspector, (SMI) and Mudosayi Huire, consultant, DVBO Zunheboto conducted  awareness campaigns and mobile clinic to raise public awareness.

At Lizumi, Lotisa Old and New, Naghuto, Mapulumi, Ngozübomi and Luthusumi villages public were educated on the symptoms of malaria, diagnosis and treatment through focus group discussion and mobile clinic.

Hekuto Sumi appealed to the people to take precautionary measures to prevent the disease as well as stop mosquito breeding during the rainy season. 

He also advised the students, ASHA workers and community leaders to spread the message on malaria preventive measures in their respective villages and homes. 

Mudosayi Huire, consultant highlighted the district’s epidemiological situation of vector borne diseases and the strategies being adopted to eliminate malaria. 

The campaign will continue till June 30 covering more villages.
