Five drug peddlers held in Manipur with drugs, arms and ammunitions

In different drives against drugs and illicit trafficking, law enforcing agencies in Manipur recovered huge quantities of contraband drugs along with arms and ammunitions from five drug peddlers.

One of the drug peddlers was apprehended by a combined team of police and troops of 43 Assam Rifles in border town Moreh after 1,23,000 pieces of WY (World is Yours) was recovered from his possession.

Twenty-year-old Ts Khaigunlen Haokip son of Ts Lettinmang Haokip of Chikim Veng of Moreh town was arrested from New Champhai village in Tengnoupal district around 4.30 pm on Tuesday, police said.

The arrested individual along with the recovered item has been handed over to Moreh police station where a case was lodged against him, the source added.

Police in Thoubal district also arrested four drug peddlers and recovered huge quantity of ban drugs. Two arms with ammunitions were also recovered from one of them who the police alleged to be a drug dealer. 

The arrested individuals were Md Sabi Ahamed (27) and Md Hassan (25)- both from Lilong Ushoipokpi Tamyai;  Md Riyajuddin (40) of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Mathak;  and Md Abdul Rajak (45) from Porompat Muslim Leirak.

The contraband drugs recovered from them included 3980 pieces of SP (Spasmo Proxyvon) capsule, 150 pieces of N-10, 109 bottles of Codeine phosphate 10 % (Cough Syrups), one .32 revolver, a SBBL gun and six live rounds.

A cash amount of Rs 5,54,700 and two mobile handsets were also recovered from them, said Thoubal SP Dr S lbomcha Singh.

Talking to reporters at Lilong police station of Thoubal district where the four were paraded before being handing over to the police station, the SP said that Md Sabi and Md Hassan were first detained  by the police after seven bottles of cough syrup (commonly use as intoxicant) were recovered from the car, they were travelling.

Upon on spot interrogation, they disclosed that the Cough Syrups were purchased from one Md Riyajuddin.

Police immediately rushed and raided the house of Md Riyajuddin where 57 bottles of Cough Syrup bottles were recovered.

Based oninformation provided by Riyajuddin , the same police team joining hand with sleuth of Narcotic Affairs Border (NAB) Imphal East district raided the house of Rajak at Porompat Muslim Leirak.

In the raid, 3980 pieces of SP capsule, 150 tablets of N-10 and 45 bottles of Cough Syrup along with one .32 Revolver along with six live rounds and a SBBL gun and the cash amount (Rs 5,54.700) were also recovered, the SP said.

Md Rajak was dealing in supplying of illegal drugs while the three others drug peddlers, the SP alleged.
