KGSU organises first ‘Summer Olympic’

Kuhuboto Ghakhu Students’ Union (KGSU) organised the first “Summer Olympic 2019” on the theme, “Unity through Sports” hosted by Suhoi village here on Friday. 

19 units under Kuhuboto area both men and women took part in the event held in 11 categories.  The events were- high jump, long jump, penalty shootout for women, shot put, arm wrestling, tug-of-war etc. 

The event was graced by Sumi Games and Sports Association, president, Akihito Zhimomi as Olympic guest. 

In his address, he stressed on the importance of sports and advised the players to give equal importance to studies through time management to succeed in both the fields.

He also cited an example on how Mary Kom, with sheer determination and hard work could rose to fame through sports. In this regard, he reminded the participants to take up sports with hard work and determination so that they can also become a role model to the society. Akihito also reminded the participants that sports was not only winning about medals, but the participation with discipline and team spirit was important. 

The chief guest was accompanied by SGSA advisor, Mughato Sumi, leaders from various organisations and members of various sports bodies.   

Earlier, the presidential address was delivered by KGSU president, G. Zhimomi and the programme began with an invocation by associate pastor children, Nikali Swu. 

On July 11, the KGSU also organised a felicitation programme to honour the toppers and successful students of HSLC and HSSLC examination 2019. 

The felicitation programme held on the theme, “Arise, Awake! Stop not until the goal is achieved” was graced by chairman, Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School Dimapur, Dr. Andrew Ahoto as the special guest. 

In his address, Dr. Andrew focused on all round development and encouraged the students to work harder to achieve their goals. 

He also gave away the certificate to the toppers and successful students. 

The programme was also attended by WSSU vice-president, Kughato Achumi. 

Earlier, the programme began with an invocation by chairman KGBPF, pastor Ghoshito G. Swu and KGSU president, Kabo G. Zhimomi delivered the presidential address. 

Special number was presented by Gloria Dey School of Music, Kuhuboto town.
