Despite being a mother of a child with cerebral palsy, Vitoli Achumi did not lose her determination and passion to establish her own enterprise and today she has put up maiden show in the ongoing Hornbill Festival at the Naga Heritage village, Kisama.

Achumi, who was into making shoes and bathroom sandals mostly made of loofah, has named her stall as “Aasuto Enterprise”.

Interacting with Nagaland Post, Achumi said she did not acquire any formal trainings but seeing people making shoes with rubber sheets inspired her.

With determination, she started making her own styles and designs and later started to transport the raw materials from Shillong.

Having felt the importance of loofah which was commonly used as body scrubber, she tried to translate into bathroom sandals.

Achumi said she has been working hard throughout the year to display her products at the Hornbill Festival and expressed joy that many foreign tourists were excited with her products.

She also plans to set up her shop in Dimapur after the Hornbill festival. She further urged the younger generations to make good use of the talents and blessing God has bestowed on them.
