Meghalaya Cong legislator Clement Marak dies in Delhi

Former Meghalaya Power minister and senior Congress legislator, Clement Marak, passed away in a private hospital in New Delhi on Monday evening after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 58. “Marak passed away at Max Super-specialty Hospital at Shalimarbagh this evening,” Congress Spokesperson Zenith Sangma said.

Despite battling with prostate cancer for years, Marak contested the assembly elections held in February and retained his Selsella constituency defeating NPP’s nominee, Ferlin C A Sangma. Several leaders including Meghalaya chief minister, Conrad Sangma, former CM Mukul Sangma expressed shock and conveyed heartfelt condolences.
