Thirty-one year old Moakumzuk, who hails from Mopungchuket village under Mokokchung district, emerged as the winner of Mr. Nagaland  2018 beating 28 body builders from across the state at the 2nd edition of Mr. Nagaland and Men’s Physique contest held at State Academy Hall Kohima on Thursday night. The programme was organised by Nagaland Body Building & Fitness Association (NBBFA).

Moakumzuk, who contested from the 75 kg category, walked home richer by Rs. 30,000, and also a trophy and certificate. For the first time, NBBFA introduced a Men’s Physique 2018 title, and it was bagged by Temjennukshi Jamir. The winners from three categories -- 60 kgs, 65 kgs and 75 kgs -- contested for the Mr. Nagaland title.

In the 60 kg category, Alobo Chishi bagged the first prize, while Moamenen Tzüdir and Alemba Thonglim bagged second and third positions respectively. In the 65 kg category, Kikhrukhretuo Suokhrie, Kuvemuri Ringa and Vikshiekho Pucho bagged the first, second and third positions respectively. In the 75 kg category, Moakumzuk, Moalong Yaden and Okoomen Jamir bagged first, second and third positions respectively.

Advisor Youth and Sports, Er. Zale Neikha, in his address lauded the organisers for undertaking the initiative to promote, motivate and inspire youth in maintaining proper health and fitness. He said that for Naga ancestral parents, health issues were uncommon and they were fairly healthy and fit because their cultivation activities worked as daily exercise. However, in present society, most work involves sitting and little movement resulting in many health disorders like excess weight, obesity, laziness, body ache etc.

He encouraged Naga youth to also focus on weight-lifting as there is fair scope to excel in this area. He challenged body builders to be courageous, positive, optimistic and have faith in oneself to achieve their goal.
