Nagaland Secretariat Drivers' Union (NSDU) celebrated its silver jubilee at State Academy Hall, Kohima on Saturday.
Gracing the occasion as the special guest, Kenilo Apon, secretary Transport, paid tributes to pioneers and founders of the union for their farsighted vision.
While urging the members to introspect and retrospect both on its failures and success, he advised them to carry on the flames of vision of the founders and continue to work for the welfare and benefit of the union.
The members were also encouraged to serve the government with sincerity and dedication and to always strive to improve themselves.
Stating that the secretariat drivers have more responsibilities, Apon reminded them to uphold the prestige and integrity of their services through punctuality and discipline.
Apon added that a person with a high office does not necessarily earn respect because he is so placed. Rather, he said, respect has to be earned through ethical means, actions and values that a person has in his life.
Apon urged members of the union to rededicate themselves to their duties and conduct themselves professionally and with discipline in the days to come.
Commemorating the celebration, a souvenir was also released by the special guest.
Special invitee, Sevilie Angami, first president of NSDU also spoke on the occasion. The program was chaired by Neiketoy Dzeyie which started off with Rev. Phomlee Van, Phom Baptist Church Kohima invoking God's blessings.
