PM dedicates Silchar-Imphal transmission line

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation, the 400kV Double Circuit Silchar-Imphal transmission line constructed by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Power Grid) on January 4, in the presence of chief minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, speaker of the Manipur Assembly, Yumnam Khemchand Singh and other dignitaries from the state and centre. 

A delayed press release by Power Grid Corporate Communications stated that Prime Minister in his speech said that the line would remove the problem of power cuts in Manipur.

The project is the first 400kV power infrastructure in the state of Manipur and is of high importance for the entire North-East region in general and Manipur in particular. 

It will cater to long-term power requirement of the State of Manipur and shall improve voltage profile in the State. The State would now also be able to draw its share of power from Pallatana and Bongaigaon generation projects, the release stated.
