Golden jubilee celebration of Sümi Baptist Church Diphupar (SBCD) began Saturday morning with the inauguration and dedication of jubilee monolith at the church premises by Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (WSBAK) executive secretary, Rev. Dr Hevukhu Achumi.

The jubilee celebration being held under the theme, “Proclaim His Glory” was attended by hundreds of believers from different churches, well wishers, in-laws and members of SBCD on the first day.

Delivering the jubilee sermon, Rev. Dr Hevukhu while emphasising on the jubilee theme quoted Bible verses from the Book of Psalms 96:3 and Leviticus 25:9, where believers have been called to spread the mission.

He said the jubilee theme was appropriate as jubilee was considered a time of forgiveness and liberation. Dr Hevukhu said jubilee was also a time to make a firm conviction to spread the word of God

As liberated people of Christ, Dr Hevukhu said those who are liberated from their sins should not only experience the grace of Christ but also advocate it so that others could be liberated.

The speaker said Lord Jesus has called upon each believer to live out God’s forgiveness of sins and that it was their mission to spread the marvellous deeds of God throughout the nations.

Dr Hevukhu said mission is at the heart of the message of the Bible and that it was the responsibility of every believer and church to follow the Bible and spread the gospel of Christ.

The executive secretary also encouraged the members of SBCD to be messengers of Christ and urged the church to press on the vital mission of spreading the gospel to non-believers.

As SBCD celebrates golden jubilee, Dr Hevukhu said the church has experienced the miraculous work of Christ in various ways and that now it was their responsibility to share the blessings and fruits of jubilee by spreading the mission across the world.

The jubilee service was chaired by SBCD Associate Pastor Benjamin Aye with Golden Jubilee Planning Board (GJPB) secretary, Tohovi Kinimi as the recorder.

The service began with hymn song “jubilee year” followed by welcome address and introduction by GJPB chairman, L Tokishe Chishi. SBCD jubilee choir presented a song titled, “paju küvü sheshuni” while WSBAK women secretary, Kakheli Inato Jimo released the jubilee souvenir and memento.

The offertory prayer was said by WSBPF president and Valley View Sümi Baptist Church Pastor Nikhui Achumi and the scripture from the Book of Psalms 96:1-4 and Psalms 118:23-24 was read out by SCBD Associate Pastor (Children) Tonili V Kinimi. The service concluded with a benediction by Dimapur Sümi Baptist Church Associate Pastor (Women) Khetoni Shikhu.

The jubilee celebration would conclude on May 26 with a devotional service scheduled at 10 a.m. and thanks giving service at 4:30 p.m. at SBCD.
