Tree plantation drive carried out at GP Seithekema C

An advance commemoration of “World Environmental Day” was held at Government Polytechnic (GP), Seithekema C, Dimapur, under the theme “Green Campus” on May 15, wherein a tree plantation drive was carried out. 

In a press release by GP principal Er. Zhapulhoulie Rupreo stated that, range officer of Forest Chumoukedima, Imkongsunep along with other officers attended the programme. Imkongsunep in his keynote address highlighted the importance of planting trees. He also elaborated the percentage of forest coverage in different districts of Nagaland.

About 400 tree saplings of different types were planted within the Polytechnic Campus with active participation of officials from Forest department and the Polytechnic family. 

The tree saplings were provided by the range officer, Chumoukedima.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Sulanthung N Ngullie, Temsunukshi pronounced the invocation, short speech was delivered by Er. Zhapulhoulie Rupreo, principal, Govt. Polytechnic while Imnasangba Jamir, senior lecturer prayed for the plantation. “World Environment Day” is celebrated every year on June 5.
