 American Christian metal heavyweights and one of the most respected gospel rock bands in the world, Whitecross, is set to perform in Dimapur.

Propelling themselves onto the global stage with hits such as, In The Kingdom, Simple Man, No Second Chances, Attention Please, Whitecross’ songs were a blend of heavy, soft, melodic along with a memorable tunes. 

Scheduled to perform on April 12 at Agri Expo, Dimapur, this would be the first time the American legends will be lining-up for a full concert in India.

Although their songs are challenging for most musicians, Simple Man and In The Kingdom, were songs Nagas loved to perform, be it concerts, Sunday service or crusades.

Formed in the year 1985 in Illinois, US, by lead vocalist Scott Wenzel and guitarist Rex Caroll, Whitecross have three Dove Awards, one of the most reputed awards for gospel music, to their credit.

They released their first music in 1987 and their most recent album titled ‘Nineteen Eighty Seven’ was released in 2005 and even after 33 years of the band’s formation, Whitecross doesn’t seem to be slowing down as they have roped in new members for their upcoming concert.

For the Dimapur concert, the band will be led by Rex Carroll, undisputedly one of the most accomplished guitarists in a gospel band. Besides being the lead guitarist for Whitecross, Rex also played with Fierce Heart, King James and the Rex Carroll Band.

Peter Stenlund will replace the original vocalist Scott and will also accompany on the second guitar while Benny Ramos will play the bass and keyboards and Rex’s bandmate in King James Michael Feighan will be on the drums and vocals as well. So far Whitecross has released a total of 11 albums and 7 compilations which includes-Whitecross (1987), Love on the Line (EP) (1988), Hammer & Nail (1988), Triumphant Return (1989), In the Kingdom (1991), High Gear (1992), Nineteen Eighty Seven (2005), Unveiled (1994), Equilibrium (1995), Flytrap (1996), Unveiled (re-issue) (2005). While their compilations are-At Their Best (1991), To the Limit (1993) By Demand (1995), One More Encore (1998), Mega 3 Collection (2005), The Very Best of Whitecross (2006), Their Classic Hits (2009).

Apart from being known for their loud music, Whitecross stands out among the gospel music world because of their outstanding lyrics which is firmly based on the Bible which made them all the more appealing to the Christians, one among many is the song ‘No Second Chances’ which is based on the parable of ‘The Rich Man and Lazarus’, in Luke 16.

The Dimapur leg of the concert will be organized by ‘In The Kingdom Group’ which comprises of people from varied professions with Nagaland Bamboo Timber Unit as the official sponsor.

Organizers disclosed that the sole purpose of the concert was to revive the Christian ethics among the modern day youths through meaningful gospel music.
