1 died in accident at Chumu

One person died in a road accident when the two-wheeler he was riding, collided with another vehicle near Axis Bank, Chümoukedima. Although the exact cause of the victim’s death could not be ascertained, he was suspected to be run over by a truck heading towards Kohima. The victim was reportedly a Manipuri residing in Chümoukedima town area. When contacted, a personnel of Traffic Zone-II disclosed that the formalities for the victim’s body was being handled by the OC in-charge of Zone-II but the latter’s mobile phone was out of reach. Traffic police reportedly cordoned off the area and contacted the family members of the victim after which the victim was identified. Witnesses in the vicinity of the accident site said there were two bikes coming from Dimapur side but after the accident one bike made a u-turn and went back towards Dimapur. The case was reportedly under police investigation till the time of filing of this report.
