Fast Track Special Court Dimapur has convicted and sentenced one Tsenyemo Ngullie to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a 10-year-old girl in 2017. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on him.
In a press release, special public prosecutor Imlimongla stated that the accused was convicted under Section 4 & 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual offences Act 2012.
While pronouncing the judgement and order, the Special Judge, V Nyekha, observed that sexual violence apart from being a dehumanizing act was an unlawful intrusion on the right of privacy and sanctity of a female. The judge also noted that a rapist not only caused physical injuries but more indelibly leaves a scar on the most cherished possession of woman i.e, her dignity, honour, reputation and not the least her chastity and such offenders did not deserve a place in the society.
The case was registered with the Dimapur Women PS and investigated by SI Lucy Doungel. The case was conducted by special public prosecutor Imlimongla and proved the case beyond a shadow of reasonable doubt.
