1 gets 20-yr RI for raping minor

Fast Track Special Court (FTSC) Dimapur on April 29, 2022 convicted and sentenced one Vinato Chopi to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a 12-year-old minor girl on June 17, 2020.
In his judgement, FTSC Special Judge Khrulto Koso observed that the accused made atrocities to an innocent minor girl very cruelly and that it was the duty of the Court to consider and credit the trauma faced by the victim’s family and that the accused did not deserve any leniency.
The accused, who was sentenced to 20 years RI with fine of Rs. 10,000 for the offence punish-able u/s 4 (2) POCSO Act 2012, would further undergo rigorous imprisonment of 6 months in default of payment of fine.
In a press release, special public prosecutor Imlimongla said that the case was successfully investigated by UBSI Tajungsangla, Women Cell, Dimapur. The prosecution examined six witnesses to prove the case.
The judge while pronouncing the judgment and sentence stated that the prosecution has success-fully proved its case beyond a shadow of reasonable doubt.
