1 NAP leaves for Delhi

An advance contingent of 1st NAP battalion, consisting of 210 personnel will leave for New Delhi Friday as per directives from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.The battalion has been assigned the task of static guards and will provide security at vital installations such as foreign embassies, VVIP quarters and airports, official sources said.
Sources said Home minister Imkong Imchen during a brief meeting held at Police headquarters, Chumukedima, on Thursday encouraged and advised the police personnel to carry out their entrusted tasks with dedication. The meeting was also attended by State DGP J Chankija. The battalion will be stationed at Kingsway Camp, from where the personnel will be deployed to various installations. Friday’s contingent will leave by road in a convoy consisting of twenty seven vehicles. The other six contingents will follow suit on August 3, 6, 9, 12, 16 and 19 respectively.
