1 sentenced to 6 months RI for harassment

The court of Mezivolu T. Therieh, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Kohima, has convicted David Swunetho (44 years) under Section 354A(1)(i) of the Indian Penal Code.
The case was investigated by ASI Venus Kikon of Women Police Station, Kohima, and prosecuted by L. Sashimongla, Special Public Prosecutor, Kohima.
The prosecution examined nine witnesses during the trial.
The court sentenced the accused to six months rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.10,000, with a default clause of two months simple imprisonment. While noting the seriousness of the offence affecting the dignity of women, the court also considered mitigating circumstances before pronouncing the sentence.
