1 shot dead in Dimapur

One person was killed in a factional clash on Thursday around 11.15 a.m. near 2½ Mile, Darogapathar area, Dimapur. Sources said that the person identified as one Mughato of Sukhalu village under Zunheboto district was a former NSCN (K) cadre. He was reportedly shot dead by GPRN/NSCN cadres.
When Nagaland Post contacted, reliable sources from the GPRN/NSCN admitted that Mughato was killed by the group. GPRN/NSCN said the victim was “habitual defector”, who had defected to NSCN (K) with arms belonging to GPRN/NSCN. Meanwhile, NSCN (K) sources denied “any association” with Mughato who was earlier a ‘corporal’ in the group. NSCN (K) said he had “deserted the camp” in between October-November, 2014. NSCN (K) clarified that the victim was not with them “anymore”. Sources further said that whether it was NSCN (K) cadre or member of any other Naga Political Groups (NPGs), Nagas should refrain from killing each other as “killing among Nagas will not bring any solution”.
Addl. DCP & PRO, K. Shouka said the Mughato was found injured by the police at around 11.20 a.m. with multiple bullet injuries– two on the chest and one on the lower abdomen.
PRO said that the victim succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the hospital. Police also recovered two 9 mm empty shells from the spot. Police were yet to get detail information about the deceased, PRO added.
