Ten students were conferred prestigious award at the 33rd Graduation Day of St. Joseph’s College (A) (SJC), Jakhama held at the college campus on September 2.
The event was graced by minister of Roads and Bridges, G. Kaito Aye, as special guest along with dignitaries Kevipodi Sophie MLA and Bishop of Kohima Diocese, Rev. Dr. James Thoppil.
In his speech, Kaito exhorted the students to consider college as “sanctuary where dreams are created, potential are realised and friendship are formed.”
He also encouraged the students to adopt compassion and have the thirst for knowledge in the ever changing world, and concluded his speech with a statement, “If you dare to dream.”
The awardees were Tosangla S Chang (APJ Abdul Kalam Award), Lideno Kikon (Mahatma Gandhi), Chungnungmoi Guite (Dr. Talimeren Ao), Tangsoi C (Best BBA student award), Pounamdiliu K C (Best science award), Tosangl;a S Chang (Alumni association award), Lanutoshi Longkumer (Avica Achumi memorial award), Akumla Jamir (Chikrophuyo memorial award), Kevizeno Kiso (Khriebuno Nagi literary award) and Kenlumle (Capt. Regina Razousinuo award).
Various gold medals were also awarded for the toppers of the 13 UG and five PG departments.
The programme was hosted by Kümsüto Achumi and Keneitsonuo Chatsu, invocation by Fr. Dr. Jacob Charalel, welcome note address by principal, SJC (A), Fr. Dr. George Keduolhou Angami, message and blessings for the graduates by Bishop of Kohima Dr. James Thoppil and vote of thanks by Mütsülü Tetseo.
Other highlights of the programme included welcome song by College Choir, folk dance by Sangtam Cultural troupe, Wellerman by First Miracle, Speech from the Best Graduate of the batch Kenlumle, Message to the Graduates by Director, Dept. of Business Administration K. Zubemo Humtsoe and Duet by Akhumla Anar and Müzilü Keyho. Altogether, 665 graduates from different department of the college received their certificate at the event.
