Lauding the tournament for reaching its 10th edition, Patton said it had grown into an important sporting event over the years, providing young footballers with opportunities to compete, develop their skills and build friendships.
He said football had always held a special place in the hearts of the Naga people, recalling the legendary Dr. Talimeren Ao, who captained the Indian football team at the 1948 London Olympics.
Patton also said the Nagaland Super League had brought fresh opportunities to the football fraternity by providing a more organised and competitive platform for clubs and players. He added that the league had created opportunities for young footballers to sharpen their skills and pursue the game professionally.
Citing Cape Verde, a nation with a population of just over five lakh that qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in its history, Patton said even small communities could create a significant impact on the global stage. He encouraged young people to pursue their ambitions with determination.
