11-day Poomsae Coaching Camp begins in Kohima

DIMAPUR, JUL 8 (NPN)

The Nagaland Taekwondo Association (NTA) has launched an 11-day Poomsae Coaching Camp at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, bringing together over 70 Taekwondo trainees from across the state.
Participants include athletes from the IG Sports Academy, various educational institutions, and Taekwondo clubs from multiple districts.
The camp officially began on Tuesday evening featuring training sessions led by Master Ranjit Biswakarma, a renowned Taekwondo coach from Arunachal Pradesh, along with two other trainers. The camp will go on till July 17.
Master Ranjit, who holds a 4th Dan Black Belt, is a national referee and a six-time national medallist, having won gold, silver, and bronze across multiple categories. He has twice been honoured with the India Best Poomsae Coach Award and has competed at both national and international levels.
In his address at the inaugural session, Master Ranjit said he was honored to be part of the camp and expressed his excitement at training young Taekwondo enthusiasts from Nagaland.
“This is my first time conducting a Poomsae coaching camp in Nagaland, and I’m truly happy to be here. I may be from Arunachal, but it feels like home here,” he shared.
NTA president Pele Khezhie, speaking at the inauguration, encouraged all trainees to make the most of the opportunity.
“Learn as much as you can from our master. Take the knowledge back to your districts and teach the correct form of Poomsae,” he said.
Khezhie expressed confidence that the camp would significantly benefit the state’s Taekwondo athletes and help strengthen the discipline across districts. The NTA president also revealed that a delegation from the Directorate of Youth Resources and Sports and NTA will travel to South Korea later this week to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement aims to bring South Korean experts to Nagaland to help further promote Taekwondo and enhance training infrastructure in the state. Welcoming Master Ranjit and his team, Khezhie said their contribution would be remembered as a milestone in the development of Taekwondo in Nagaland.
