11 KMC members united

Former deputy chairperson of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) Vipopal Kintso of NPF has claimed that eleven councilors were united in their stand to oust KMC chairperson Menuovilie and deputy chairperson Thejangulie Theunuo.
Talking to newsmen here at KMC office Tuesday, Vipopal said eleven KMC members had moved a no confidence motion Monday against the chairperson and deputy chairperson as the duo lacked “co-ordination” and “oneness.” “We were not allowed to share our ideas and responsibilities to improve the functioning of the KMC,” he said.
He also informed that the eleven members had already met three ex-officio- members of KMC including NPF president and Urban Development minister Dr. Shurhozelie, Speaker NLA Kiyanilie Peseyie and Er. Vikho, MLA, and explained their stand. The members are yet to meet Dr. Nicky Kire, MLA, and the two MPs, also ex-officio members.
According to Municipal Act, the DC is expected to call a meeting within fourteen days after the no-confidence motion is moved and ask the present incumbents to seek vote of confidence of the house. KMC has nineteen elected members and six ex-officio members, who also have the voting rights.
On Monday, the eleven members including Vipopal Kintso, Khriehu Liezietsu, Keduolhoulie Houzha, Neilaselie Kire, Sakhol Tsukru, Vilar Rutsa, Neiphrelie Rutsa, Neivor Rutsa and Kevikhrietuo Mepfu-o (NPF councilors), Neitsu Kuotsu (Congress) and Vizopal Chaya (BJP), in a letter addressed to DC Kohima, stated that the incumbent chairperson and deputy chairperson no longer enjoyed the confidence of the majority of the elected members of KMC.
