After two ministers and four parliamentary secretaries were sacked from the current ministry and seven others were suspended from NPF party membership, another group of legislators in G. Kaito Aye’s camp reportedly resigned from their respective posts Tuesday. Sources from the dissident group informed Nagaland Post that two ministers, parliamentary secretaries and advisors comprising of 12 members have voluntarily resigned and would be submitting the resignation letters to the chief minister’s office Wednesday and meet the governor.
Sources further informed that the largest party and the leader who had the maximum number of support among the NPF legislators should be taken into confidence for formation of the government.
According to the provision of the Constitution, the governor could invite Kaito and his team to form the government and they would be granted a minimum of 15 days to prove the majority.
The dissidents were also likely to meet NPF party president on Wednesday and hand over the signed copy of change of leadership of NPF legislature party.
Meanwhile, sources in Kohima camp informed that there could not be any other government except NPF-led DAN government.
Those in the chief minister Zeliang’s camp said a splinter group could not form the government and said anybody getting involved in “anti-politics” would be subjected even to disqualification adding that even outside activities might attract disqualification.
Sources added that in the dissident camp, the members were not even allowed to speak to their own family members.
On the strength of members, sources informed that NPF already has its chief minister and said power of strength should be proved only on the floor of the house.
