12 students receive ‘Indus Towers Scholarship Program’

Indus Towers organised a felicitation programme for 12 students from Nagaland who were selected among 120 students for the “Indus Towers Scholarship Program” 2021-22. The programme was held in Kohima on December 18 with and state commissioner for persons with disabilities, Diethono Nakhro as the chief guest.

In a press release, Indus Towers informed that during the programme, the state commissioner for PwDs encouraged the students and shared insights on the initiative with the participants present.

Meanwhile, Circle CEO-NESA Indus Towers, Rajender Gurung said that the Indus Towers believed in taking active role and responsibility in transforming the lives of communities.

To this effect, Indus has adopted a multi-fold approach for corporate social responsibility (CSR), inclusive education being one of the important elements while promoting education programs, he informed.

He also said that the Indus Towers Scholarship Program with Shishu Sarothi offered a ray of hope to those “waiting to emerge from the margins of our society and prove their worth in the world”.

Later, an induction session was also conducted for the students to orient them about the methodology of claiming and mode of scholarship disbursement.

It may be mentioned that the Indus Towers (formerly Bharti Infratel Limited) partnered with Shishu Sarothi for the “Indus Towers Scholarship Program” 2021-22 for the fifth consecutive year. As part of Indus’ corporate social responsibility programme, the company has offered the scholarship to 120 students with disabilities from North East region of India where 12 students are from Nagaland.  The scholarship program implemented by Shishu Sarothi was launched in 2016 with the objective to encourage and support students with disabilities and has since supported 316 students across North East.

Nagaland State Disability Forum (NSDF) is the state partner organisation for the scholarship program in the state.
