12,200 visitors on day-1 of Hornbill festival

Altogether 12,200 people visited the Naga Heritage village Kisama on the first day of the 10-day Hornbill festival that kicked off on Friday, Tourist officer (statistical i/c), Toka E. Tuccumi informed. The officer said out of 12,200 tourists, there were 273 foreign tourists, 2105 domestic and 9822 local visitors.
Most of the tourists had to face a harrowing time due to strict security measures put in place for the President’s visit as the chief guest for the inaugural programme. There were also heavy traffic jams along the highway and within Kohima town.
