1280 recognised villages in Nagaland

There are 1280 recognised villages, 75 unrecognised villages and 111 hamlets as on March 1, 2021, according to the survey on the number of Villages in Nagaland 2021, a publication of the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Government of Nagaland.

The publication was released by ACS & Finance Commissioner, Sentiyanger Imchen on December 21, 2021 in his office chamber, Secretariat, Kohima.

The survey was undertaken by the directorate of economics & statistics covering all villages and habitations in the State.

Realising the need for such a survey on account of lack of clarity and varying number of villages with the various departments, Sentiyanger Imchen, the then additional chief secretary and development commissioner, conceptualized the survey.
