12th Pochury Black Day memorial cup from Sep 15

DIMAPUR, SEP 6 (NPN): The 12th edition of the Pochury Black Day Memorial Cup will be held from September 15 to 24, as part of the continuing effort to preserve the memory and legacy associated with Pochury Black Day. Organized by the Pochury Students’ Union (PSU), the football tournament is dedicated to honouring the sacrifices of the forefathers who laid down their lives for the Naga cause.
A total of 16 teams/clubs will compete for the coveted championship title. The Champion will be awarded Rs.1,00,000, along with a trophy, medals and citation. The runners-up will receive Rs. 70,000, accompanied by a trophy, medals and citation, while the two semi-finalists will each be given Rs. 30,000.
In addition to team prizes, individual awards will recognize outstanding performances throughout the tournament. Categories include Most Promising Player, Best Defender, Best Goalkeeper, Player of the Tournament and Highest Scorer.
The PSU emphasized that the Memorial Cup is not only a sporting event but also a platform to keep alive the memory of the sacrifices of the forefathers while fostering sportsmanship, unity, discipline and fellowship among the younger generation.
Reaffirming its commitment, the Union stated that the observance of Pochury Black Day and the Memorial Cup are important avenues to remember and pass on the history and sacrifices of the past to future generations.
The PSU called upon the community, youth and well-wishers to uphold the spirit of remembrance and work collectively towards a future founded on faith, unity, peace and hope.
